What Book Finder is
Book Finder helps an enrolled student decide which public-domain book to publish next on Amazon KDP, using that student's own KDP catalogue and sales history together with public research sources. It is available only to members of the Archived Academe Discord server who hold the Student role.
What we collect
- Your Discord identity: your Discord user ID and username, received through Discord sign-in with the
identifyscope only. We do not receive your email address or Discord password. - Your KDP catalogue, read by the extension from your own KDP Bookshelf when you click Sync My KDP (or, if you turn it on, when you open your Bookshelf): titles, subtitles, author names, series, formats, publishing status, archived state, ASINs/ISBNs, list prices and publication dates.
- Your KDP sales and royalty reports, from KDP Reports tables the extension reads, or report files you upload: sale dates, titles, identifiers, marketplaces, units, refunds and royalty amounts.
- Amazon listing facts you choose to send with Send this Amazon page: the product-detail or search-result section of that page (title, format, price, sales rank, ratings, publisher). The extension does not send the rest of the page, such as the account greeting in Amazon's header.
- Connector device records: a random device token (we store only its hash), when it was created, last used and last synced.
- Security logs: events such as account linking, device connection, sync completion and access denials, without report contents.
What we never collect
- Amazon or KDP passwords, one-time codes, or session cookies. The extension has no cookie permission and never sends Amazon session data to our servers.
- Payment, bank, tax or identity documents from KDP.
- Browsing activity outside the KDP pages named above and Amazon pages you explicitly send.
How we use it
Only to provide Book Finder to you: to analyse your own publishing history, avoid recommending books you already publish or were already recommended, record recommendations and how they later performed, and answer your questions in Discord direct messages. Your catalogue and sales are private to your Book Finder profile; no other student can see them.
Public Amazon listing facts (sales rank, price, reviews) are not personal data and are kept in a shared research history used for all students.
Who processes it
- OpenAI generates Book Finder's answers. When you ask a question, the parts of your data needed to answer it are sent to OpenAI's API as part of that request.
- Amazon Web Services hosts the Book Finder server and database.
- Discord delivers messages and confirms your server membership and role.
We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
The use of information received from the Book Finder Connector adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide Book Finder's single purpose described above, is not transferred except as described here, and is not used for creditworthiness or lending decisions.
Retention
Your Book Finder profile, catalogue history, sales history and recommendation history are kept even if your Student role or server membership lapses, so they are there if you return. Disconnecting a device revokes its token. To have your Book Finder data deleted, email support@archivedpress.com from the address on your account and include your Discord username.
Security
Connector traffic uses HTTPS. Device tokens are stored only as hashes. Access to private data is checked against your current Discord membership and role on every request.
